There was a story going around at about the time I graduated (1957) about dear old red-headed Rube Cotter going to the doctor for her nerves (the kids in study hall were probably driving her crazy)! The doctor supposedly told her that the only cure he could offer was for her to cut back on her drinking - to about a pint a day. Rube allegedly responded: "Hell, Doctor. I SPILL that much"!
