Stephen M. McCarter, age 65 passed away September 30, 2015. He was a deacon at Stone Wall Baptist Church since 1973. He was in the U.S. Navy from 1968-1974. He was the owner of ACE Fence Company for many years. He was a loving husband, father, papaw, and brother, who had an extraordinary ability to show God's love to all who crossed his path.

He was preceded in death by father John H. McCarter and mother Vola McCarter; brothers-in-law J.C. Ogle and Robert "Bobby" Lovin. He is survived by wife of 45 years Joyce McCarter; children Valerie and husband Hamid, Jason and wife Lora, Aaron McCarter; grandchildren Cameron McCarter Torney and Noah and Ella McCarter; brothers J.R. (Dorthy), Larry (Frankie), Jerry (Janet); sisters Emma Ogle and Carolyn and Charles Jackson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Charles and Doris Bishop; many special nieces and nephews; special friends Johnny and Kathy Strader.

Service will be 8:00 pm Sunday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel, Rev. Vonzel Whetsell and Rev. Richard Mellon officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45am Monday at Greenwood Cemetery for 11:00 am interment, Rev. Jim Myers officiating.
