Norma Maxey Day

We lost our loving mother and Meme, 10/23/1927 – 12/31/2016, after a short illness at Tennova North Hospital. Norma graduated from Rule High School, Class of 1945. She was a majorette, cheerleader and Miss Rule High of 1945. Norma was married to Bob Day, the love of her life. She raised 4 children while working at AT&T, excelling as a nationally ranked sales rep for Tupperware and then fulfilling her dream to become a beautician and business owner. Norma owned her own salons, first in her home and later the Glamouristic Studios on Broadway. She was President of the Knoxville Hairdressers Assoc. for several years. After retirement from her successful business career, she spent her time enjoying her family and special friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. (Bob) Day, Sr.; father, Carson Maxey; mother, Teddie B Maxey; sister, Grace Maxey Caldwell; and brother, Jimmy Maxey. She is survived by children and spouses, Robert E. (Gene) Day, Jr. and Katie, Carson Day and Ida, Michael Day and Ethel, Rebecca (Becky) Perkins and Dean; grandchildren and spouses, Scott Day, Shane Day, Jennifer Day, Rebecca Day Koontz, Robert Day and Sun Hee, Carson Day and Marcia, Nathan Day and Dr. Heather Reed-Day, Misty Cooksey and Len, John Legere and Jennifer; step-grandchildren and spouses, Allison Carter, Lauren O'Reilly and Kenny, Dena George and Thomas Perkins. Norma leaves seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves her sister, Marian Clinton and Harold; many nieces and nephews and a very special group of friends, The M&M Ladies.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 W. Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918, with the Funeral Service following at 11:30 a.m. with Nathan Day, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Norma's favorite cat rescue, Specialty Purebred Cat Rescue (http://www.purebredcatrescue.org/donate/) or the charity of your choice will be appreciated.
