Jerry Eugene “Gene” Bedwell passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 75. He was a longtime member of Lonsdale United Methodist Church. He grew up in the Lonsdale Community where he graduated from Rule High School. Gene coached many teams throughout the years in the Inskip Community. Every September, Gene could be found at the Tennessee Valley Fair where he was an employee of 50 years. Gene retired after 45 years as an electrician from Martin Marietta. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union 270/760. On any given weekend, he enjoyed attending gun shows, where he earned the nickname “Glock man”. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great grandfather. He treasured his family time and worshipped his two granddaughters and great grandson. Preceded in death by his wife; Glenda Sue “Poochie” Bedwell, parents; Andrew and Essie Bedwell, brothers; Robert “Hub” Bedwell and Billy “Bill” Andrew Bedwell. Gene is survived by his loving children: Jerry Bedwell Jr. (Tonya) and Janet Bedwell Loveday (Mark); granddaughters McKenzie and Marena and great grandson, Jaxson; sister Joyce Grubb (Claude); sister-in-law Charlotte Bedwell and many other family members. There will be a guest book available at your convenience on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 10:00am-5:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. Family and friends will meet 2:45 pm Sunday, August 22, 2021 at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Southerland Avenue for a 3:00 pm graveside service.
