Nicky Smartt - Class of 1964

Nicky L. Smartt, born August 5, 1946, passed away October 2, 2021 He was a 1964 graduate of Rule High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, served his basic training at Ft. Benning, GA. He was trained in jungle warfare at Ft. Polk, LA. Nicky went on to serve in Vietnam from 1967-1968 as a Combat Infantry man with the 1st Calvary Division. He received 4 Bronze Stars with Valor, Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. Nicky was a lifelong member of the 1st Calvary Division Association, 100% Disabled Veteran and was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America. Preceded in death by parents, Nick and Bernice Smartt; brother, Fred Smartt. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacquolyn Monday Smartt; children, Brent and Amy , Barry and Tammy, and Vicki Rockwell Smartt; grandsons, Evan and Derek Smartt; granddaughters, Shelby R. Smartt Dyer (Riley), Allison Bailey Smartt Noe (Jeremy) and Josy N. Smartt. Family will receive friends at Weaver’s Chapel October 11th from 5:00-7:00 pm with the service to follow. Family and friends will meet on October 12th at East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Hwy at 12:15 pm for a 12:30 pm interment. Family request that masks be worn.
