CARTY, JR., JOHN WILLIAM (BILL) - age 70, of Knoxville, passed away, Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Parkwest Medical Center. He was a member of Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Lions Club. Mr. Carty was a veteran of the police force. Preceded in death by daughter, Elizabeth S. Carty; parents, John William and Mary Carty. He is survived by wife, Virginia (Ginny) Carty; sons, John and Kevin Carty; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Jeff Coleman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy and Alan Mays, Kay and Edward Smith, Clare and John Roop. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, March 11, 2011, at Lonsdale United Methodist Church with John Roop officiating. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Young-Williams Animal Center (3201 Division Street NW, Knoxville, TN 37919) or the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
