GWINN, MARY RUTH - age 81 of Knoxville passed away February 9, 2013 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mary Ruth was born in Knoxville to Hugh J. and Mamie Ruth Bean on August 15. She graduated Rule High School in 1949. She went on to work at Miller's Dept Store on Gay St. Later working for Chapman Drug Co/Cardinal Health where she retired in 1997 after 40 years of service. She was a member of Lonsdale United Methodist Church where for many years she sang in the choir, helped lead Cub Scout Pack 341 and Pack 2, and worked tirelessly with her Sunday School class. She enjoyed talking to friends on the phone, music, puzzles and spending time with her family. Mary Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Mamie; and her husband Ernest L. Gwinn, her one true love who proposed on Valentine's Day. Mary Ruth is survived by her brother Paul W. Bean of Mississippi; daughters Beverly Gwinn Jones and Mary Beth Miles; two grandchildren Ariell Jones and Jonathan Miles; and sons in law, Doyle E. Jones and Bruce Miles. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, February 14, 2013, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Elaine Ruth officiating. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Friday, February 15, 2013, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 graveside service. Following the graveside service, family and friends are invited to Lonsdale United Methodist Church for a light meal. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Tennova Residential Hospice for their open hearts and loving support in Mary Ruth's final days.
