HILL, CARL E. - age 93, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Tennova Residential Hospice. He was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church for over 45 years. He was retired from Rust Engineering and Oak Ridge National Laboratories. Veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army where he was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Bright Hope Lodge #557 F&AM and Scottish Rite. He was also a member of Steam Fitters and Plumbers Local 102. Preceded in death by wife, Louise Armstrong Hill; parents, J.R. and Mary Hill; 5 brothers; 4 sisters. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Danny Smith of Tellico Village; granddaughters, Carla Puckett (Brian) of Franklin, TN, Dana Smith of Indiana; great-grandchildren, Cody Puckett and Molly Ann Puckett; brother, Rick Hill; several nieces and nephews whom Carl was very fond of. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Foster's Cardiology Team and to the staff at Shannondale Retirement Center for their loving care and kindness. Funeral service 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Boyd and Rev. Kent Williams officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Memorial Park for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. Full military honors will be presented by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Nephews will be pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association , 4708 Papermill Drive, Knoxville, TN 37917 or to Wallace Memorial Baptist Church Missions Fund, 701 Merchants Drive, Knoxville, TN 37912.
