EMERT, KENNETH W. - age 87, of Halls, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Tennova Residential Hospice. He loved sports; especially Tennessee football and Braves baseball. He graduated from Rule High School in 1945 where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He retired from Interstate Bakers Corp, and was the retired owner of K.E.T. Co. Preceded in death by wife, Geneva Emert; parents, Amos and Katherine Emert; brothers, Ralph and Gene Emert; sister-in-law, Lucille Emert; mother and father-in-law, Pearl and Side Wade; brother-in-law, James Parsons; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Mary Wade and their son Jack, Jr. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Jr. and Gayal Emert; sister-in-law, Wilma Parsons; brother and sister-in-law, Sidney and Janet Wade; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Emert; several nieces and nephews; and special nephew, Richard Emert. The family would like to offer special thanks to caregivers Polly Jone, Kathy Reynolds, and the nurses and staff of Tennova Residential Hospice. The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm, Tuesday, May 20, 2013, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service with Rev. Tom Caylor officiating.
