Argus Moyers - Class of 1952

Knoxville - Argus Lee Moyers, on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, surrounded by family and loved ones was accepted into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at the young age of 87, or as Argus would calculate, (8+7=15). His math kept his spirit young which enhanced his devotion as a man of God, faithful husband, loving father, and remarkable grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather.

Argus was born on February 10, 1934 in Middlesboro Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ruby (Hoskins) Moyers; brothers, Earl Moyers and Charles Moyers; and sister, Glenda (Moyers) Romanello. Also preceded in death by his infant children, Steven, Barry and Larry Moyers; son James (Skip) Moyers; and grandsons, Anderson Moyers and Mark A. Moyers Jr.

Argus is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Joyce Luellan (Riggs) Moyers; daughter, Pamela (Moyers) Price and husband Bill; son, Mark Moyers and wife, Pamela (Mallonee ). In all, Argus had 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.

Argus retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service. In retirement he worked in the printing department of The Girl Scouts Organization. Although not practicing for a number of years Argus was an ordained Baptist Minister and preached at numerous churches and performed wedding ceremonies for friends and family. He was a long time member of City View Baptist Church. He was active in the Masons at Burlington Lodge763, Scottish Rite of Knoxville, and Kerbela Shriners Temple of Knoxville.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm Thursday with the funeral service to follow at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. Knoxville, TN. The graveside service will be 1 pm Friday at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www. berrylynnhurst.com
