Portia N. Muckle, also known as "Diane", departed this life on September 13.2021. She was born on July 12, 1950 in Loudon, TN to Nebuchadnezzar Cutwright and Josephine Russell. She was a graduate of Rule High School and Knoxville Business College. She was employed as Director of the Foster Grandparent Program, and she also directed the Boys and Girls Club. In 2015, she retired from East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. As a devout and faithful member of Word of God Ministry, under the pastoral ship of Pastor Robert Sherrod, she served as Worship leader, secretary, and choir member. She was a founding member of the W. C. Parker Singers and the Thompsonaires.

Russell, aunts; Odella (Willie) Buford, Betty A. Rodgers and Gertrude Jones, nephews; Derrick Muckle, and special cousins; Barbara Russell, and William "Scottie" Russell.

Thursday, September 30, 2021, a public walkthrough is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Community Evangelistic Church (CEC) located at 2650 Boyds Bridge Pike, Knoxville, TN. Social distancing and face coverings are required. Funeral service to follow for immediate family and close friends. Interment at East TN Veterans Cemetery, 2200 Gov. John Sevier Hwy where a white dove release will conclude the service. Flowers may be delivered to the church the morning of the walkthrough.
