Knoxville - Dan Hope died peacefully at his home Thursday, October 14, 2021. Six days prior to his passing, Dan accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Dan was born on April 1, 1944 in Birmingham Alabama. His family moved back to Tennessee two years later, and Dan grew up in Knoxville. After graduation from Rule High School in 1962, Dan moved to Washington D.C. and began working for Norfolk Southern Railway. While in Washington, Dan met and later married Sandra Lou Turner. They lived in the Washington area until sometime in the 1970s when Dan was transferred to Atlanta. He retired in 1988 and returned to Knoxville where he and Sandy lived out their lives.
Dan is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sandy; parents Sherlock Ross Hope and Ida Ellen Hope; brothers Trewhitt Hope, John Hope, and Gene Hope; and sister Nola Sharp.
He is survived by his sister, Ida Radar; nieces and nephews David Hope, Janie Bean, John Radar, Sandra Hope, Pam Sharp, Elizabeth Owen, Tammy Homick, Gloria Taylor, and Suzanne Sharp; and special friends Dwayne and Laura Winkle.
A memorial service will be held at Berry's Funeral Home on November 6 at 3:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to First Baptist Church Main Street. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com
