James Barham - Class of 1982

James Kennedy Barham, age 58, of Knoxville, Tennessee was called Home on Monday, January 24, 2022. James was born December 5, 1963 in Knoxville, TN. He was a faithful member of Greater Bush Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he served as an usher. James was a graduate of Rule High School where he holds the record in Track and Field. He attended ETSU where he was recently elected as a member of the Southern Conference 100th Anniversary Teams for his career in Men's Track and Field. James set records in track that still stand today. While attending ETSU, he was initiated as a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc in the Theta Zeta Chapter, Spring 1984. James later became a member of the Phi Tau Graduate Chapter where he was a loyal member for a total of 37 active years. His Fraternity Brotherhood was his extended family. James was an avid sports fanatic. His favorite teams were the Miami Dolphins and UT Volunteers. He was preceded in death by father, James L. Barham; brother, Freddie Brandon Jr. James is survived by his wife of 13 years, Elise Barham; sons, Tyrell Barham (Alaura Williams) and Ricky (Alora) Wolfenbarger; bonus children, April (Lee) Burnem, Heather (Josh) Forsythe, and Michael (Allison) Collins; grandchildren, Kybreiana, Xena, Rio, Riaura, Audrey, Cameron, Caleb, Conlee, Bella, Chloe, Abigail, and Jack; mother, Leverta Barham; sisters, Lucille Clark, VertaMae Barham; multiple nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Saturday, February 5th from 2-4pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with Celebration of Life Service following at 4pm. Rev. Eugene R. Carter officiating. Masks are required for the visitation and service.
