Dorothy Ann (Smart) Hyde of Knoxville, Tennessee, suddenly passed away on June 8, 2022. Dorothy was a spirited and loving person who cared deeply about her family. Her sense of humor will forever live in the mind of everyone who knew her. She had quick wit and an endless supply of funny sayings that were all her own. Dorothy was a very special person – a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, often saying to her family “you’re my life.” To her extended family, Dorothy was just as special, with nieces and nephews thinking of her as another mother to them. Dorothy was love and was loved.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Lon and Reba Smart, her husband of 57 years Michael Kenneth Hyde (Mike), and her sisters Fay Brewer, Barbara Matthews, and Mary Shultz, as well as her brother Lon (Slick) Smart.
Dorothy graduated from Rule High School in 1964 and then, in 1965, married her high school sweetheart, Mike. They remained married until his passing on March 22, 2022.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Mike Hyde (Beth) and Mandi Watson (Aaron), four grandchildren, Emily Long (Jared), Anna Grace Hyde, Bailey Watson, and Barrett Watson; one great granddaughter, Vada Long; her sister, Delores Brewer (Jim), and numerous nieces and nephews. Receiving of friends will be held from 5:00-7:00 on Monday, June 13, 2022, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel, service to immediately follow beginning at 7:00. Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 10:30 am for a procession to Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00 graveside service. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Watson, Barrett Watson, David Brewer, Jared Long, Hunter Cooper and Gary McGhee. Condolences for the family may be shared at www.mynattfh.com.
