Kenneth Ray Jackson
February 11, 1947- August 2, 2022
Kenneth Ray Jackson, age 75, passed away on August 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by his mother Nellie Ruth Jackson; sister, Sandra Lynn Jackson Rudy; and brother Terry David Jackson. He is survived by his brother Michael Jackson, and chosen family: Judy Hobbs, Anne Foschino, Jim White, Jim Stiles, Lewis Combs and Con Hunley, and his best buddy, Rusty his dog.
Kenny was born in Knoxville, attended Rule High School, and honorably served in the U.S. Army, where deployed to Vietnam and earned a Bronze-Star for his heroic actions in the line of fire. After separation, he enrolled at the University of Tennessee, joined the Pride of the Southland Marching Band, and later toured with Con Hunley playing the saxophone in his band.
Kenny was a retiree from the City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation where he served as the Assistant Recreation Program Specialist in Music. He loved playing golf and attended an annual golfing outing in Savannah, was an avid Volunteer's fan and enjoyed cheering them on every game.
The family will recieve friends on Wednesday from 9:30 am - 11:00 am at Rose Funeral & Cremation - Mann. The funeral will immediately follow. Family and friends will then gather at 12:30 pm on Wednesday for military honors and the interment at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Hwy. www.rosefuneraltn.com
