Clyde Cox - Class of 1960

On July 23, 2022, Clyde Cox died in Franklin, TN with his children at his bedside. He was 80 years old. Clyde is survived by his fiancé, Ronnie Bowman, former spouse, Judy Cox-Hawk, his children, Michael (Sherri) Cox, Shawna (William) Satterfield and Mary Beth (Jared) Dragoun. Proud grandfather of Anna, Conover, Allie, Cass and Asher. Clyde was born on Dec. 14, 1941 in Knoxville, TN. Clyde was an outstanding football and baseball player and graduated from Rule High in 1960, he then signed with the Cleveland Indians. An ankle injury interrupted his professional career and he joined the U.S. Army. He served in Hawaii and Southeast Asia with A Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry, 25th Division. Afterwards he attended Knoxville Business College to become a licensed Contractor while serving as a Fire Fighter for Knoxville Fire Department. Clyde will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a caring father, man of faith, lover of UT Football, golf, a proud patriot and US Army veteran. Per his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
