Joy Rader McCroskey, age 73, of Knoxville, Tennessee, daughter of the late Pete and Pezzy Rader, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at West Hills Healthcare.

Joy was a member of Beaumont Avenue Baptist Church and a graduate of Rule High School Class of 1967. She received an associate degree in Certified Public Administration from the University of Tennessee. Joy was a 47-year employee of the Knox County Criminal Court Clerk's office that included serving as Chief Deputy Clerk. In June of 2008 she was appointed by Knox County Commission as acting Criminal Court Clerk to fill the term of long-time Clerk and good friend, Martha Phillips, following her unexpected death. In August of 2010, Joy was elected to a full four-year term and served in this position until her retirement in October of 2014. Over the course of her service, she received numerous local and state recognitions and awards.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Pezzy Rader and brother, Jim Rader. She is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Tim Hoffman; granddaughter, Alayne Hoffman; grandson, Alex Hoffman; brother and sister-in-law, John and Kathy Rader; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Russell Greer; sister and brother-in-law, Gay and Hobie Clapp; brother, Pete Rader, Jr. and longtime companion, Becky; and sister-in-law, Cathy Rader. Joy also had numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of UT Hospital Cardiac Care Unit and Hospice Care. Also, very special thanks to long time primary care physician, William Neal Harmon.

A visitation will be held for Joy on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 12pm with a funeral service to be held at 2pm at Berry Highland Memorial Funeral Home, Reverend Roy Gose officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3pm at Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to: The Fraternal Order of Police Youth Camp, FOP Lodge #2, 801 E. Fifth Ave.
