James Ray Moon, Sr., 81, of Clearwater, FL, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. The son of the late Ray Moon and Doris (King) Moon, Jim was born on April 6, 1943, in Knoxville, TN.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Anne (Trippe) Moon. They were residents of Clearwater for 15 years. He is also survived by sister Jan Powell of Knoxville, TN, and ex-wife Barbara Moon.
Jim served as a minister and Christian counselor for 30 years in Atlanta, GA, before retiring to Clearwater. In retirement, he and Anne remained very active in churches in the area. Jim served as a Bible study leader and elder at Generation Church in Largo, FL.
He was a loving father to sons Jim Jr. (Elizabeth) Moon, Bob (Amy) Moon, Greg (Christine) Moon, daughter Jodi (Rick) Patterson, stepson Jim (Debbie) Johnson, and stepdaughter Maria Johnson.
Jim was also "Papa" to 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Jake (Catherine) Moon with sons James and Emmett, Erica (Austin) Roebuck with children Judah and Eden, Elysia Moon, Aaron (Savannah) Moon with son Ethan, Josh (Ruth Ann) Moon with son Everette, Tyler (Drake) VonKohn, Kayli Moon, Kori Moon, Brenna Moon, Connor Patterson, Ryan Patterson, Trippe Johnson, Ava Johnson, and Lexi Ross.
Celebration of Life services will be held in Jim's honor in both Georgia and Florida.
In Georgia, family and friends will gather on Tuesday, December 3, at Emmaus Church, 75 Maddox Rd #200, Buford, GA 30518.
Jim's family and friends in Florida will celebrate his life on Sunday, December 8 at Generation Church, 10321 75th St, Largo, FL 33777.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Forsyth City Cemetery, Forsyth GA.
