Phillip Ray Bowling-67 of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness of leukemia on Monday, November 23, 2009 at Fort Sander's Memorial Hospital. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, a Knoxville City Police Officer for seven years and retired as a Captain with the City of Knoxville Fire Department Inspection Division. Preceded in death by his father, Boyd Lester Bowling, brothers, Boyd Warren Bowling and Charles Bowling (R.H.S. 1957). Survived by his wife Wanda Bowling; sons and daughter-in-law, Stacy and Loretta Bowling, Anthony Bowling; grandchildren Austin Bowling, Patrick Bordine, Brittany Bowling, Breanna Bordine and Nicholas Bowling; mother, Gladys Opal Bowling; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda Faye (R.H.S. 1959) and June Day. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 6:00-8:00 in the Fountain City chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather Wednesday morning at 10:15 at Mynatt Funeral Home and proceed to Highland Memorial Cemetery for interment.
