CRIPPEN, ROY GORDON - age 88 of Knoxville. A soul took flight into Heaven on October 26, 2009 at Fort Sander's Regional Hospital after an extended illness. Roy was one of 11 boys raised at John Tarleton Home and graduated from Rule High School in 1940. He retired from Rohm Haas chemical department as a foreman after 39 years of service. He was a man of many talents. He was an avid fisherman, carpenter, builder, painter and designer. He loved working on his stained glass projects and spent many happy hours designing and making beautiful glass for church craft shows and his many friends. Roy loved his Lord and was always a great provider for his family and will be so very missed. He was a dedicated member of West Haven Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his mother, Docia Brigman and brother Hilliard Crippen. He is survived by his wife Letrice Scruggs Crippen; two daughters Connie Mitchell and Darlene Dagnan; five grandchildren Cindy Lewis, Melissa Miller, DeAnna Fagiana, Matt Dagnan and Dustin Mitchell. He also leaves 6 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses on the 3rd floor for their special care and kindness. Also, a very special thanks to Dr. Houseman at Fort Sander's for her caring and comforting words. Family and friends will gather Thursday at 2:45 pm at New Gray Cemetery for a graveside service at 3 pm with Rev. Geoff Prowse officiating. The Bible Class will be honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Haven Baptist Church Air Conditioning Fund. Arrangements by Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City. www.mynattfh.com
