HILL, JAMES LLOYD (BUSS) - Age 85 of Knoxville, born September 27, 1925 in Knoxville, TN, died Friday, February 25, 2011. A 1946 graduate of Rule High School, Buss proudly served his country as a Navy Seaman First Class during World War II, serving in the Pacific. After his honorable discharge from the military, Jim worked for Rohm and Hass for several years before retiring from the City of Knoxville. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim loved the University of Tennessee football, basketball and was an avid NASCAR racing fan for many years. He had an infectious sense of humor that will be missed by his family and friends. Jim was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and a past member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. James was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lottie Scruggs Hill and six sisters and four brothers. Jim is survived by his former wife and still good friend, Verdia Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Tony Luttrell; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Sandy Hill, Mike and Belva Hill, Ronnie and Rene' Hill and Terry Hill. He was known as papaw to his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Melvin Hill. A very special thank you to his friend Virginia Norton and a sincere thanks to all of the staff of the Surgical Critical Care Unit at U.T. Medical Center. Funeral service 7:00 PM Monday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel with Reverend Leland Lyon officiating. Family and friends will meet at 11:30 AM Tuesday at Tennessee State Veterans' Cemetery for interment services with full military honors presented by the Volunteer State Veterans' Honor Guard. Pallbearers, Mike Hill, Hunter Hill, Andy Luttrell, Tim Luttrell, Tyler Hill and Greg Kitts. Online condolences may be sent to www.rosemortuary.com.
