SWANN, JACK TURNEY, SR. - age 79 passed on to be with his Lord in heaven on Wednesday, December 28, 2011. He was at home surrounded by his family and friends. Jack was born in Dandridge, TN. on September 11, 1932. He later moved to Knoxville, TN with his family, Turney and Fern Swann and brother Jim. Jack attended Claxton Elementary where he met his lifelong bride, Nancy Householder. Jack graduated from Rule High School where he played football. He joined the U.S. Army in 1952 and later started Swann and Campbell Grocery with his brother-in-law Bill Campbell, husband of Nancy's sister Katherine. Jack and Nancy later started Amherst Grocery in lovely downtown Amherst, TN. On July 31, 1963 until November 14, 2009, for forty-seven years. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he held many offices, especially a Sunday school teacher. Preceded in death by brother Eugene Swann; parents Fern Blazer Swann and Turney Swann; step-mother Mildred Swann; father and mother-in-law Howard (Jake) and Elizabeth Householder and brother-in-law, John (Bud) Householder. Survived by loving wife of fifty-eight years Nancy; son and daughter-in-law, Jack Swann, Jr. and Lula; grandchildren Kristen, Britany and fiancé Ryan Bolcar, Justin Swann, and their mother Lea Ann Swann; step grandchildren Eric and Ashley Yarber; great-grandchild Elizabeth Allmon; brother Jim Swann; sisters and brothers-in-law Ann and Tommy Small, Nancy and Jerry Pressley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Katherine and Bill Campbell; sister-in-law Marjorie Chance; uncle Wayne Blazer; cousin James (Bozie) Blazer and wife Gerri and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Covenant Health Hospice employees for their excellent care and our Bethel friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2004 Amherst Rd., Missions Support International, P.O. Box 4907 Oneida, TN. 37841 or Emerald Youth Foundation 1718 N. Central Street, Knoxville, TN. 37917. Family will receive friends Saturday from 3:00-7:00 pm at Bethel United Methodist Church with service to follow at 7:00 pm. Reverends Larry Dial, Perry Duncan and Steve Diggs officiating. Family and friends will meet 2:45 pm Sunday at Hills Union United Methodist Church in Dandridge, TN. for a 3:00 pm interment. Rev.
