RHINEHART, ROBERT E., SR. (TINY) - civic leader and longtime advertising executive with the Knoxville News-Sentinel, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012 following a brief illness at the age of eighty-two. Mr. Rhinehart was born on August 1, 1930 in Concord, Tennessee, an only child to the late Charles Rhinehart and Ruby Hayes Rhinehart. He was a member of Belmont Heights Baptist Church for more than eighty years. He was a retired employee of the Knoxville News-Sentinel after thirty years of service as an account executive in the advertising department. Bob was very active in the Masonic organizations in Knoxville. He was a member and Past Master of Charles H. McKinney Lodge #433 where he was a fifty year member. He was a York Rite Mason and attained the rank of KYCH, a member of the Order of Purple Cross and Red Cross of Constantine. He was past Potentate of the Kerbela Shriners where he served in 1999, was Past Captain of the Kerbela Provost Guard and served as President of the South Eastern Shrine Association Provost Guards, a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court #57, Past Monarch of Zelmar Grotto, and Past Worthy Patron Accia May Order of Eastern Star. Mr. Rhinehart served as a member of the Board of Directors of Shriners Hospitals for Children in Lexington, Kentucky and was the Past President of the Knoxville City Salesmen's Club. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and was an avid University of Tennessee sports fan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Rhinehart. He is survived by his children, Robert E. Rhinehart, Jr. and wife Carol, Donna Rhinehart Waugh and husband Mark, and Charlie Rhinehart and wife Carrie; grandchildren, Sara Rhinehart Ogle and husband Jason, Robert E. Rhinehart, III, Matthew P. Rhinehart and fiancée Michelle, Matthew Hayes Waugh, Ava Grace Waugh, Lisa Payne, Jennifer Rhinehart, Tyler Rhinehart and Phillip Deney. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Weiss, the CCU Unit and 3rd floor nursing staff at Parkwest Medical Center for the exceptional love and care during Bob's illness. Masonic Funeral Rites will be presented by the Charles McKinney Lodge# 433 F&AM at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 in the chapel of Rose Mortuary. A funeral service will immediately follow officiated by the Reverend Steve Best. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel to travel in procession to Edgewood Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment service. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the funeral service at the mortuary. Online condolences may be extended at www.rosemortuary.com.
