Darrell Lynn "Pete" Johnson, 61, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, while doing one of his favorite things, his morning walk with his dogs. Pete was a special man whom everyone couldn't help but love. He was a devoted husband, father and friend. Pete had a special way about him in that he never met a stranger. All you had to do was ask and he was there without hesitation. He was a man of many talents with a generous heart who always put his family before himself.

Born in Knoxville, Tenn., Pete was the son of the late Paul and Wanda Wininger Johnson Jr.. He retired from TVA in 2008, after 30 years of service, most of which was in labor relations and continued to serve TVA as a BVI volunteer. Pete genuinely enjoyed working at the visitor's centers at Raccoon Mountain and Norris Dam and conducting tours for engineering students at various TVA dams. He was an avid UT fan and loved playing golf with his closest friends, as well as hiking and fishing. Pete was a member of Spring City United Methodist Church and Ducks Unlimited.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul H. Johnson III and his beloved grandmother, Lola Mae Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife and soul mate, Debbie L. Johnson; his daughters, Taylor S. Johnson and Jessica N. Sanderson and future son-in-law, Luke Cochran; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew M. and Sandy K. Sanderson. Pete is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Robin and Rodney McMillin; mother-in-law, Peggy Lester; sister-in-law and brother-in-laws, Belene and Richard Howell and David Robinson and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish Pete’s memory are aunt and uncle, Betty and Jim Johnson who held a special place in his heart. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Woody and Misty and cats, Sam and his lap-warmer, Mattie. Pete was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at the Spring City United Methodist Church with Rev. Rodney Burnette officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
