CHARLES CADMAN HUGHES Sr. HUGHES, CHARLES CADMAN, SR. - age 83, of Gatlinburg, passed away Sunday after a brief illness. He was born the son of the late Walter Hughes and Eula Belle Lister Hughes of Baileyton. He lived most of his childhood in Baileyton then graduated from East Tennessee State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He later received a Master of Science degree from UT Knoxville in Educational Administration. After serving the Knoxville City School System for 30 years, Charlie Hughes had been enjoying his 32 years of retirement by traveling around the country in a motor home with his wife of 58 1/2 years, Betty Jo Daniels Hughes, and many other motor home travelers making life-long friends; regularly visiting his favorite beaches at the Gulf Shores of Panama City Beach, FL; regularly eating at his favorite restaurant "The Mountain Lodge" of Gatlinburg where he loved to speak to everyone he saw; and spending time with his family; daughters, Marcy Hughes (Jeff Lynn) and Margaret Ann " Maggie" Hughes, son Charles "Chuck" Cadman Hughes Jr. (Becky) and grandsons, Alex and Luke Lynn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 4:00-5:30 p.m. at Highland Memorial Funeral Home, 5315 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, with a memorial service to follow, Rev. Don Moore officiating. A private interment is scheduled for family. Honorary pallbearers will be; Bubba Barber, Bobby Gorman, BZ Lane, Mike Line, Marcus Little, Jeff Lynn, DM Miller, Jim Reid, and Rebel Wesley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First United Methodist Church, 742 Parkway, Gatlinburg, TN 37738.
