MARSHALL, CAROLYN WEAVER - age 81, of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, after a lingering illness. After graduating from Rule High School and attending Carson-Newman College, Carolyn moved to Washington D.C. to work in civil service. She retired in 1989 after several years as assistant to the Judge Advocate General of the Marine Corps. She grew up as a member of Beaumont Avenue Baptist Church where she loved singing and listening to Southern Gospel music, her favorite pastime. She was preceded in death by parents, Harley and Jessie Weaver; and daughter, Pamela Gail Marshall. Survived by son, Gary (Linda) Marshall; grandson, Darryl (Karla) Marshall; and children Julia, Natalie, and Brendan all of Rochester, NY; granddaughter, Michelle Marshall of Hoboken, NJ; sisters, June Woods, Judy (David) Childress, and Brenda Smith of Knoxville; brother, Jack (Dolores) Weaver of Irvine, CA; several nieces and nephews; special nieces, Janie Woods and Sarah Kitchen; special nephews, Larry Woods and Dalton Oaks. Celebration of life and receiving of friends will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel; following which family and friends will travel in procession to Highland Memorial Cemetery for a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
