LEE, IDA MARIE HAMPTON of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014. She was born on April 15, 1931 in Gastonia, NC to Robert Baxter Hampton and Bertha Roberson Hampton. She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Frances Kerr Stinnett, Ruby Hampton Whaley; brother, Robert Boyce Hampton; husband, Kenneth Eugene Lee; daughter-in-law, Janea L. Pilant Lee. She is survived by sisters, Hazel Pauline Hampton and Betty Louise Hampton Wright and husband Jimmy Wright; son, Michael E. Lee and daughter, Evangeline Marie (Vangie) Lee; several nieces and nephews and special niece Ginni Lei Moore and husband A.C. (Red) Moore. She was a graduate of Rule High School in 1948. During the 1940's she played piano often on the Midday Merry Go Round on WNOX. She was a poet, artist, seamstress and pianist. At Bon View Baptist Church she was pianist and Sunday school teacher until her infirmities caused her to be bedridden. She retired from Palm Beach after 40 years. She made often 200 cards at a time to mail to friends for no other reason than to show her love for Jesus and the blessings she has received. She always hand addressed the cards from her hospital bed and on every envelope she was sure to write, "In God We Trust". The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Bon View Baptist Church. A celebration of her joining her beloved Jesus in Heaven on Mother's Day 2014 will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Harvey Harmon officiating. The family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, for an interment service. In lieu of flowers, Ida requested donations be made to Bon View Baptist Church, 904 BelleAire Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37921. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the kindness and professionalism of the nurses from Avalon Hospice and Home Care Nurse Jane King and hairstylist Dana Maynor who came to her home and fixed her hair weekly for several years.
