Barbara Akers Bruce - Class of 1948
Posted: Thu Nov 20, 2014 3:24 pmBRUCE, BARBARA AKERS - age 84 of Knoxville passed away Tuesday Nov. 18, 2014 at Tennova Residential Hospice. She was a longtime member of Lonsdale United Methodist Church, a graduate of Rule High School and Hiawassee College. She was preceded in death by parents Eugene and Hattie Akers; brothers: Franklin, Edwin, Rayfield and Don Akers. Survived by husband: Earl E. Bruce; children: Robin (Brian) Burchfield, Richard (Sabra) Bruce; grandchildren: Nicholas & Krista Burchfield, Josh (Valerie) Lawrence; great granddaughter: Zoe Lawrence; sister: Jean Ellis and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at the main entrance to Greenwood Cemetery 10:45 A.M. Saturday for graveside services at 11:00 A.M. with Rev Elaine Ruth officiating. Memorials may be made to Lonsdale United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
