Ronald Loran Bayless - Class of 1954

BAYLESS, CHIEF PETTY OFFICER RONALD LORAN, (RETIRED) - age 78, of Powell, passed away Sunday, December 07, 2014. Ron was born on October 20, 1936, in Knoxville, Tennessee to Oscar L. and Carrie (Householder) Bayless. He was a graduate of Rule High School, class of 1954. He proudly served 22 years in the United States Navy. During his service he made a world cruise on the USS Midway and served with the Blue Angels maintenance crew. After retiring from the military he worked for and retired from Martin Marietta after 21 years of service. Ron was an avid fisherman who loved nothing more than spending time on the lake along with his nephew/best friend and fishin' buddy, Mark Burleson. He was preceded in death by both parents and sisters, Barbara Webb and Carole Ellis. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alma Jarnigan Bayless; daughter, Lori Bayless Snyder; and step daughter, Kimberly Roth DeVault; grandchildren, Sloan and Sadler Snyder; sisters, Betty Turner and Billye Makres. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet 1:15 p.m., Friday, at Tennessee Veterans Cemetery located on Governor John Sevier Highway where full military honors will be presented. Jamie Bauknight and Rev. Martha Atkins officiating.
