Jerry A. Farmer - Class of 1960

FARMER, JERRY A. - age 72 of Powell passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015. By the age of ten, Jerry knew he wanted to be a lawyer. Jerry graduated from Rule High School in 1960. He then went to the University of Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1967. After working in private practice he became the youngest deputy law director in Knoxville history in 1968. He then worked for a couple of law firms before founding the law firm of Fox and Farmer with James D. Fox in 1987. Jerry was a longtime active member of Sharon Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his father, Alvin K. Farmer. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean Farmer; mother, Nan Coley Farmer; sons, Bradley Farmer and fiancée Carrie Chatlosh, Scott Farmer and wife Jennifer Farmer; grandchildren, Daniel, Cara, Alex, Cassidy and Bradley; brother, Terry Farmer; uncle, J.C. Coley and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Sharon Baptist Church with service to follow at 7:00 pm. Rev. Mark McCoig and Dr. James Robertson officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Thursday at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery for a 2:00 pm interment.
