Henry Condon Human - Class of 1949

Born in Clinton, Tennessee, he was the seventh of ten children born to the late Henry Condon and Callie Elizabeth Buckles Human Sr. He was a graduate of Rule High School in Knoxville where he was an outstanding athlete and was also selected as Mr. Rule High School of 1949. After graduation from high school, he joined the U. S. Army. During his military career, he served in Korea, Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also served in Knoxville in the National Guard from 1960 to 1964 and in Chattanooga from 1964 to 1977. In 1977, he started the National Guard Armory located in Dayton, Tennessee. He retired in 1993 as a Command Sergeant Major of the Headquarters 184 Field Artillery. He was a member of the Spivey United Methodist Church in Dayton and was presently attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grandview. He was member of the American Legion Post #53. He loved the outdoors, fishing and his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice K. Human, sisters Nellie Wright, Edith Townsend, Dorothy “Dot” Statum and Betty Payne, brothers Isaac “Cub” Human, James “Shake” Human and Charles Ray Human.

Survivors include his son Greg (Tammy) Human of Grandview, brother Doyle (Jeanette) Human of Knoxville, sister-in-laws Margaret King of Spring City, Tennessee and Pearl Human of Nashville, brother-in-law J. B. (Doris) King of Knoxville, grandchildren Jonathan (Ashleigh) Human, Andrew (Ashley) Human, Seth, Hunter and Matthew Human, great grandchildren Brennan, Braelyn and Leila and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Ewing, Rev. John Neece and Rev. David Brock officiating. He will be laid to rest by the love of his life, Alice, in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
