Johnny C. Buckner, age 81, of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at his home. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, and proud Veteran of the U.S. Army. Johnny retired from the 489th Civil Affairs Company with 27 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Buckner; brothers, Howard, Ralph, and Fred Buckner; sister, Pat Bruce. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elsie Doyle Buckner; daughter, Angela and husband Jay Beal; brother, Charles Buckner (Delores); special friends Rev. John Holland and Joe Nichols. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at ROSE MORTUARY BROADWAY CHAPEL. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 with Rev. John Holland and Rev. Allen James officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery for an 11:00 am graveside service.
