Wayne Dunaway - Class of 1959

Wayne M. Dunaway, Jr. age 76, of Sevierville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, March 27, 2018 at LeConte Medical Center after a battle with COPD and cancer. Wayne was born on May 26, 1941 in Knoxville and was a 1959 graduate of Rule High School. He was proud to serve his country in the Air National Guard. He spent his career at the Knoxville News Sentinel and retired after 38 years. Wayne was loved by all and was widely known to be generous and compassionate and was a dedicated family man. He was a godly man and a believer. He not only knew about and loved the Lord Jesus Christ but thanks be to God he is with Him in heaven even now.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne M. Dunaway, Sr. and Edna Perry Dunaway; twin sisters, Brenda and Glenda Dunaway; sister, Ruby Dunaway; twin brother and sister, Wade Dunaway and Wanda Skeen; mother-in-law, Lillie F. Campbell; sisters-in-law, Helen Norris, Lena Keane, Joan Wolfe, Betty Humphreys and June Swing.
Wayne is survived by his lovely bride of 41 years, Martha Moleen Campbell Dunaway; daughters, Sheila (Chris) Alford of Sacramento, CA and Wendy Dunaway (Mark Falcon) of Fayetteville, NC; mother of his two children, Betty Dunaway of Knoxville; grandchildren, Noah Alford and Anna Alford of Sacramento, CA; sister, Deanna Greene of Knoxville; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dalton of Knoxville and Anna Lea Dalton of Bean Station, TN; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews; special cousin Bob Cardwell and wife Joyce of LaFollette, TN; aunt, Freddie Crowder of Knoxville; many special friends.
Family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at Stevens Mortuary followed by a chapel service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Roy Gose officiating and music by Lynn Bennett. Family and friends will meet 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary to go in procession to Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service and interment. Serving the family, Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
