Barbara June Hurst Smith age 77 went to be with Jesus on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at her home. She was a faithful attender of First Apostolic Church of Knoxville. She loved her church and her church family. She loved her family and her occupation of Nursing. She was a retired RN and she loved taking care of the elderly in which she did for many years. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe M. Smith, daughter Tina Lynn Stewart, parents Jim and Dorothy Hurst, sister JoAnn (Carl) Jones, and brother David Hurst. She is survived by her sons Stan J. (Myra) Smith and James A. (Heather) Smith, grandchildren: Joey (Katie), Desiree (Matthew), Lindsey (Travis), Dean (Katie), Josh, Jason (Kate), Amanda, and Emily (Dwight); as well as several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Tennova Hospice and all their caregivers, and a special caregiver Katie. The family will receive friends Monday, May 7, 2018 from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm at First Apostolic Church 5020 Pleasant Ridge Road Knoxville, TN 37912. Immediately followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm officiated by Bishop Billy McCool and Rev. Mark McCool. Family and friends will meet Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:45 am at New Gray Cemetery for an 11:00 am interment. An online obituary may be viewed and condolences made at www.rosemortuary.com.
