William Wayne Mantooth, Sr.

William (Bill) Wayne Mantooth, Sr. (Moose), age 78, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018 at his home in Seymour, TN. Bill was a retired Navy veteran, an Associate Professor at TCC in Virginia where he started a radiography program, a hospital administrator, computer specialist, and a court bailiff. He was a member of Seymour United Methodist Church and served his church proudly in a variety of roles.
Bill loved his family and embraced life with a zealous sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Mary Anne Nixon Mantooth, his parents Jewel Fred and Mintha Mantooth, two brothers Ted and Don Mantooth, and a special aunt Grace Bradley.
Bill is survived by his wife Juanita Vandergriff Mantooth, his sons Wayne Mantooth (Lisa) and Michael Mantooth (Kim), his daughter Michelle Mantooth Kughn (Fred), his grandchildren, Chase Logan Wurl, Andrew and Amanda Mantooth, and great grandchild, Paisley Kughn. He is also survived by his step children Chris Sayne (Vickie), Greg Vandergriff (Cindy), Karla Vandergriff Farabow, Maria Vandergriff-Avery (Christopher), and Tonya Vandergriff Childress (Todd), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends, Joyce Wooliver and Roger Marion.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 22, 2018 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm in Atchley's Seymour Chapel. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 9:30 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
