David Frei - Class of 1962

Frei, David 74 of Knoxville, TN passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 11, 2019. He was a graduate of Rule High School. Over his 45 year career, David began working as a projectionist at Dixie Lee Junction Drive-In and continued working as a projectionist at most of the Knoxville Theatres before retiring after 17 years as manager at Carmike 10. He was a former member of the IATSE, a member of the Mason's, Shriner's, and an Eagle Scout. David was a long time member of New Salem United Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to the movies and the local car shows. David was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Grace Frei; brother, Charles Porter Frei. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Evelyn Frei; sisters-in-law, Samita Frei and family, Betty (Ben) McCammon, Jody Sayne; nieces, Cindy (Rick) Shephard and Tammy McCammon; nephew, Frank (Carolyn) McCammon; great nieces, Evelyn and Ashlyn; great nephews, Garrison and Donovan. David also leaves behind many friends at his church, theater and gym. Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 15th from 12-2pm at Berry Highland South on Simpson Road with funeral service following at 2pm. Dr. David Lord officiating. Burial will take place immediately following services at Berry Highland South Cemetery.
