Knoxville - Simmons, Donald D. age 85, of Knoxville, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to his heavenly home on Monday, February 8, 2021. Graduate of Rule High School 1954, U.S. Army Veteran, Retired from KUB, member and past master oriental lodge #453, 32 Scottish Rites Mason, Kerbela Shriners, Past Masters Club, Shriners Hospital Transportation driver for the children for 25 years, and Provost Guard. He is preceded in death by mother and father Maebell and William Simmons, Brothers; James, Ruble, Joseph, Sisters; Lula (Suda Nichelson), and Louise Minge. He is survived by loving wife Frankie Simmons, Son; Doug Simmons (Sandra), Daughter; Leigh Ann Gibson, Grandson; Tyler Simmons (Ashley), Granddaughters; Autumn Colegrove (Brandon), Chaya Gibson, Great-Grandsons; Elijah and Lucas Simmons, Ellie Colegrove arriving in June. Several nieces and nephews, and family friend Kent Gibson. Pallbearers; Brandon Colegrove, Wayne Keener, Tony Keener, Jim Rogers, Will Mitchell, and Jerry Adkins. Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with a funeral service at 1:00pm, officiated by Rev. Jimbo Duncan, family and friends will then proceed to New Gray Cemetery for a graveside service. Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, Wayne and Judy Keener, Jim and Norma Rogers.
