June Marshall Badgett peacefully passed away on August 9, 2024, surrounded by family and friends on her beloved farm at the age of 84. June was a true Knoxville native, who spent her life here in beautiful East Tennessee. She was born September 26, 1939, to the late Ira and Elsie Marshall. June was a true renaissance woman and successful entrepreneur that was active in both regional and national politics. She was a co-founder, with Stan Brock, of the internationally recognized Remote Area Medical. She was a professional photographer and actress in both movies and television. She was loved by all she met and was always sincere and compassionate to those she touched. Being the oldest of four sisters, June was the matriarch of the Marshall family, and was always creating a warm legacy of lasting experiences for all. June was a devoted and exemplary wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, stepmother, and aunt, who always placed others needs above her own. She was lovingly cared for by her husband and best friend of 33 years, Tom Badgett, throughout their wonderful lives together. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Pat Ferrell. The family also wants to express our deepest appreciation to her best friend, Janet Hood, for her tireless assistance and care during this trying time and over the years. She will be sorely missed now and for generations to come by her son, Oliver A. Smith IV and wife Sarah Smith, grandchildren Crosse and Olivia Smith, and great-granddaughter, Savina, and her stepdaughters Eden Badgett, Rosie Badgett and Jordon Perelle and her husband Justin and children Patton and Charley, and finally her adored husky, Jesse, who was always by her side. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Hunt and husband Tom and sister Carolyn Doty and husband John and numerous nephews and nieces and their families. A private family service will be held. Fond memories, photos, and condolences may be made at www.berryhighlandwest.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor and name can be made to Remote Area Medical (www.ramusa.org/donate/ or contact Jennifer at 865-579-1530 ext 166).
